Dearest Readers,

It's been a little (big) while since I wrote on here. Much like the rest of the world, I've spent the last month and a half in isolation, completely alone except for when I venture out to the supermarket. And although that's been tough, it hasn't been without silver linings. When I haven't been working from home, I have read some wonderful poetry and self-help books, taken some beautiful spring-time walks and turned quite a few pages in novels. And I have also been extremely creative.

I have made huge progress with my novel (it's almost finished guys!), done a spot of painting and completed NaPoWriMo for the first time. I suppose isolation and the apocalyptic turn the world has taken has led a lot of people to use writing as an outlet for all the crazy feels, and some days I even wrote more than one poem. Not only that, but over on Tumblr I had a surge of likes, reblogs and even some comments and personal messages on my poems that have helped me to overcome a few hurdles of self-consciousness. My poetry has always been a personal thing for me, just a hobby and an outlet, but I won't pretend that I haven't secretly hoped an unbiased someone would tell me they like my poetry.

So, to celebrate this beautiful, lonely and creative month that we close the door on, I will post my personal favourites here on DeviantArt.

Thank you for reading <3

NaPoWriMo 2017

1 min read
Hi all!

So... I tried to participate in NaPoWriMo (or National Poetry Writing Month if anyone doesn't know what it is). I figured it would be a piece of cake, especially as I'm a NaNoWriMo veteran (a poem a day must surely be easier than writing 1,666 words a day), but I let myself get behind while I was on a trip and didn't bother to catch up. So yeah, I'm a failure. That said, I've written a few poems I'm pleased with (amongst a few mediocre/terrible ones) and I may continue to write a couple over the rest of the month and maybe use some of the prompts in future, so all is not lost. The poems I consider somewhat successful have been posted here.

For anyone interested, check out napowrimo.net
